Document generation at volume
Early days. PDFs for an FMCG catalogue, plus the spec writing that kept everyone honest about scope.

The problem
An FMCG client needed generated PDF documents as part of their product workflow, built on top of third-party libraries with their own constraints.
What I decided
- Built on existing third-party libraries rather than generating documents by hand, accepting their constraints in exchange for not owning a rendering engine.
- Contributed to the functional specification documents that set project scope — the clarity of those documents was what kept the build from drifting.
Outcome
A shipped and maintained module, and specification documents that gave the wider team a shared definition of scope.
